Microblading & Microshading

Microblading vs Microshading: Which Technique to Choose?

· 2 min luxury

Torn between microblading and microshading? You're not alone! These two eyebrow dermopigmentation techniques are the most popular in 2026, but they deliver very different results. Here's our complete comparison to help you choose.

The Technique

Microblading uses a fine blade (a manual "pen") to create incisions that mimic natural hair strokes. Each stroke is drawn individually, creating a hyper-realistic hair-by-hair effect.

Microshading uses a multi-needle device to deposit small dots of pigment, creating a powdered ombré effect, like smudged pencil makeup.

Visual Result

Criteria Microblading Microshading
Effect Realistic natural hairs Soft powdered / ombré
Intensity Subtle and natural More defined and filled
Best for Dry to normal skin Oily or combination skin
Duration 12-24 months 12-36 months
Touch-up Every 12-18 months Every 12-24 months

Skin Type Matters

This is where the difference is crucial. Microblading is ideal for dry to normal skin, as sebum can cause strokes to "spread" on oily skin, creating a blurry effect over time. Microshading, thanks to its stippling technique, holds much better on oily and combination skin.

Pain Level

Both techniques are comparable in terms of discomfort. A numbing cream is applied before each session. Most of our clients describe the sensation as a light scratching, entirely bearable.

The Combo: Best of Both Worlds

At DIVAMAZE, we also offer the combo brows technique that combines microblading (hair strokes at the front of the brow) and microshading (ombré on the body and tail of the brow). This technique delivers an ultra-natural yet structured result.

Our Recommendation

During your free consultation, our technician analyzes your skin type, face shape and preferences to recommend the most suitable technique. There's no "best" technique — only the one that's perfect for you.
