Post-Permanent Makeup Skincare: 10 Golden Rules

· 3 min luxury

You've just had microblading, microshading or Candy Lips? Congratulations! Now, the coming days are essential to ensure an optimal and lasting result. Here are our 10 golden rules for perfect healing.

Rule 1: Don't Touch the Treated Area

Your hands carry bacteria. Resist the temptation to touch, scratch or rub the pigmented area. If itching occurs, that's normal — it's a sign of healing.

Rule 2: Apply Healing Cream as Prescribed

Your technician will provide a specific cream (like Aquaphor or a medical equivalent). Apply a thin layer 2 to 3 times daily for the first 7 days. No more — too much cream suffocates the skin and can affect pigment retention.

Rule 3: Avoid Direct Water for 48 Hours

Shower normally, but protect the treated area from direct water. For the face, clean around the area with a damp cotton swab for the first two days.

Rule 4: Zero Makeup on the Area for 10 Days

No foundation, concealer or powder on the treated area. Makeup can introduce particles into the micro-wounds and affect healing.

Rule 5: Protect from the Sun

UV rays are enemy number 1 for your pigments. During healing, avoid all direct sun exposure. After complete healing, apply SPF 50 daily on the area to extend your results' longevity.

Rule 6: No Sauna, Pool or Intense Exercise for 7 Days

Excessive sweating and chlorine can disrupt healing. Wait a full week before resuming intense physical activities.

Rule 7: Never Pick the Scabs

Micro-scabs will form — this is normal and desirable. They contain pigment. Removing them prematurely will create empty spots. Let them fall off naturally.

Rule 8: Avoid Acids and Exfoliants

AHA, BHA, retinol, concentrated vitamin C — all these actives should be avoided on the treated area for at minimum 4 weeks. They can prematurely degrade the pigment.

Rule 9: Sleep on Your Back If Possible

Particularly important after microblading or microshading: avoid rubbing your face against the pillow. A silk pillowcase can also help reduce friction.

Rule 10: Keep Your Touch-Up Appointment

The 6-8 week touch-up isn't optional — it's essential. The first session lays the foundation; the touch-up perfects the colour, shape and fills areas that retained less pigment. This is what makes the difference between a "good" result and a "gorgeous" one.

By following these 10 rules, you maximize the durability and beauty of your permanent makeup. Don't hesitate to contact your technician at DIVAMAZE if you have any questions during healing.
